Yes or No?

と聞かれたら、「うん、嫌い」肯定の意味で、Yes と答えるのが日本語、英語の場合は、「You don't like to go out, don't you?」 と聞かれたら、「No, I don't」と答える。

最近見ていた「The Good Wife」という法廷ドラマで、激しい議論の時に、「I would not do that!」(そんなことしないよ!) You would!」(いいえ、あなたはするわよ!)

As for my English question, it is difficult to explain. I am just confused when I watch dramas.
When people discuss hardly something, " No, I would not do that!" then the other one says, "No, you would".
I thought it was supposed to be "Yes, you would". Maybe both way is right... isn't it?
It is similar to Japanese. If you ask " you don't like to go out, don't you?" then most Japanese would answer "Yes, I don't like it".
Which is a normal way in Japanese, and I thought English was the other way. But sometimes, people are talking like Japanese. "Yes, I mean, I don't like to go out." something like that.
It is not about grammar, people are talking in any way.

答え

You are right that the usual response to "I would not do that" is "Yes, you would" if you want to indicate disagreement. Similarly, if I said "I would do that," and you disagreed, you would say, "No, you wouldn't." But if you agree with the statement, "I would not do that," then you would say, "No, you wouldn't." So - I think that saying, "No, you would" to disagree with "I would not" is not correct - unless it's just a colloquialism that I I'm unaware of . (Or..of which I am unaware...) ;-)

I would not do that」という言葉に、「いいえ、するよ No, you would」という答え方をする場合は、「しないよ Would not do that」という事自体に強く反対する時に、No を使うようです。
